DiamondMax 10 300GB Hard Drive Ultra ATA-133,...

Strengths: Whisper quiet and with 16MB cache fast data retrieval.

Weakness: none

Purchased as backup storage to my two 200GB SATA150's for storage of MPEG's, videos. Once installed found out was fast enough for realtime video capture/editing. Great for burning DVD/CD's, would highly recommend.

DiamondMax 10 300GB Hard Drive Ultra ATA-133,...

Strengths: Lots of space, ecomonical and quite fast.

Weakness: None

I use this drive in a portable hard drive enclosure and take it everywhere with me, like a mobile filing cabinet full of everything I could ever need. I have also used this drive to capture and edit DV, with no problems, no missing frames or jerky playback. I highly recommend the Maxtor 300GB HDD.

Good HD For Good Price

Strengths: 16mb buffer Low noise three year warranty

Weakness: I have not found any yet but nothings perfect

So far the hard drive runs perfectly and much better than my older one that broke down (after using it for only one year) which was a Western Digital. This one is much faster and alot more quieter too. With the three year warranty it comes with, I have nothing to worry about

Must take out jumper FYI

Weakness: Jumper Design

I thought my 2 drives were DOA . . . they didn't even spin up. I though there is no way both were DOS so I did some research and my drives came with an extra jumper (43 I think). I bought mine OEM so there were no instructions, with that jumper in place the drives don't even spin-up.

Good drive (a noisy one, though)

Strengths: large capacity/buffer; fast response;

Weakness: heat and noise

this drive performs just as it should be. I have it in an external aluminum case, when it's running, one can feel the heat literally, not to say the noise. However, this may be common depending on the task you are running (I constantly put it in for system backup).

DiamondMax 10 300Gb HDD (UATA-133)

Ultra ATA-133 with 16Mb is good enough for normal use of hard drive. SATA would be better, SATA require different cable connection (For external enclosure) that makes it a little bit difficult and more expensive.
