Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 80 GB Internal Hard Drive -...Strengths: This drive is very fast and silent. Inexpensive. The SATA interface is a pleasure. Maxtor website has downloadable drivers, utilities and docs, which is nice if you buy OEM. Weakness: None. Best drive I've ever owned. Used this drive two months ago when building my new system based on an Intel P875PBZ motherboard and Pentium IV 3.E GHz Prescott chip. Some people have mentioned that it was difficult to install WinXP on a SATA drive, but everything worked out flawlessly for me. I suppose it may depend on the particular motherboard and it’s BIOS. Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 80 GB Internal Hard Drive -...Strengths: Reliable Weakness: None Have used drives from many different manufactures and this is the only one that has never given me a problem. Setup 2 of these drives in a Raid 0 config on SATA interface. Very quick.

It installed without any hitches, and the data rates seem to be faster than ide. You have to install the accompanying raid driver prior to running setup for an OS if you are using this to install you OS onto, but that was a snap. Good, solid drive

Easy to install and set up. would recommend this hard drive. So if your looking for a hard driver, this is the one for you.

Dead after 14 monthsStrengths: It use to work Weakness: Drive is dead after 14 months Drive came in a Dell 4700. Machine was a server that had very little use. Machine was even turned off for a while. Drive died after 14 months, 1 year warrantee means out of luck. Wouldn't recommend this product.

The SATA interface makes installation a dream without worry of jumpers, etc. The drive runs very well, currently with Windows and Linux. Great purchase and name brand.

I like and trust Maxtor drives. Good website with tech info on their older drives as well (like the one this one is replacing). I bought mine OEM and a little documentation sure helps sometimes. No noise issues are apparent, and I had no problems with installation or formatting.
