Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Nforce2 Chipsets, Cheap price, Cool color Weakness: None This is one of the best motherboards I have bought. It is very stable and contains Nforce2 Chipsets. Very good for overclocking your PC. I recommend this motheroboard for budget PC's. In addition, its cool blue color is so attractive! 100% of readers found this review helpful. Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Excellent price and much faster than the KT400 I have. CPU protection is excellent also. Weakness: The audio on my board has a problem, only puts sound out of one speaker. Tech support couldn't do anything to help out with that one. At first I was skeptical on buying such a cheap priced board but was very happy to see the performance gain from the KT400 I own. It is much faster and has been very stable during my use. I did have a problem for a while, it would not boot up at all. I have learned that it was the CPU protection because I forgot to add silver compound to heat sink. All is well now. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Low price Great for overclocking Weakness: Fuzzy onboard sound For the price, this motherboard is very good. I upgraded to this so that I would have the ability to overclock my cpu, and it has performed very nicely. The only problem I have with it is the fuzzy onboard sound --- which is a problem related to the nforce 2 chipset I believe --- so I will be putting in an old soundcard to fix this problem. Other than that, I am extremely satisfied with this motherboard. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Great value for the price. Weakness: Board has pads for Firewire, but not populated. I installed a 2800+ and am running at designed clock rate. Has no problems assembly as the manual has great step by step instructions. This was the third computer I build, the first two were heathkits. I would recommend this motherboard even for first time assembler. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: nvidia chipset/400 FSB/ Weakness: no frills I used this board to build a computer that I had sold and got a $15 rebate. I found it to be very easy to set up and the manual was more thorough than other economical boards in its class. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: This board has a really well written manual. Also, the price was very much worth it. Weakness: Don't see any yet- need to check if it has all of the features you need. This is the third brand of board that I have installed. I am mostly a novice, but I went online and read the manual before buying to make sure I could follow the instructions and the install went very well. I had problems in the past with others but this board appears stable and straightforward to set up. I do not overclock, but instructions clearly describe how to maximize the data bit transfer rate. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Everything seems stable. The manual was really clear, and I am not an experienced pc builder. Everthing on the motherboard was easy to find and clearly labeled. Weakness: Don't know of any problems at this time. I don't do anything that the manufacturer doesn't recommend- for example I do not overclock and I leave most default settings in the BIOS. Even though I have little experience, I did install the memory so that it is 128 bit data transfer rate and this can be missed if you haven't read the entire manual- even if you are new at this- don't miss page 41 for DIMM installation. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Solid, stable, a good value, and good manual. Weakness: No Raid or firewire or SATA - but I don't need them. This is my first motherboard for my first system, and it's a beauty - easy layout, good manual, and very solid. I'm very impressed for the price. It really has all the features a more expensive nForce2 board might own (read Asus) minus the SATA, Raid and firewire ports, but I don't need that stuff. With the manufacture's rebate, this board can be had for around $45, and mine came with two additional USB ports to connect to the back panel for a total of 4 out the back, and a header for two more USB ports for the front part of the case. I highly recommend it. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Plenty of features, not too expensive. In my opinion, the best budget nForce2 Ultra 400 motherboard out there (AN35n Ultra). Weakness: None as of yet. Can't count things like no RAID or SATA controllers or no Firewire, because it's not expected to have them. I needed an inexpensive board for my 2500+ system. Research seemed to say that this board had plenty of features for me, was at a low enough price, and it was reccomended in several articles and many reviews. Plus, many of the reviewers, who were first time DIY like me, had a positive and easy experience with this product. I am happy to say that I as well had a pleasant and smooth experience. The manual is complete and simple enough. The system took off on the first try, and the BIOS recognized everything as it should have. The only problem I had was installing the drivers in Win98. I was told to select the drive with the Win98 CD in it. Well I had to select the Win98 folder on the CD, that's what thew me off. I briefly tried overclocking. I got the processor up to 2.49 Ghz and the system ran as well as at 1.83 Ghz. 91% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Low cost, looks good, great performance to price ratio, good bios, high quality, great support/manual, 5 pci ports, tons of features, onboard lan and audio, supports dual channel mode, up to 400 FSB Weakness: Not top of the line audio, no firewire or sata support, large size could be problem in small cases, performance and oc'ing features lower than higher priced boards/brands, This motherboard is currently one of the best bargains on the market. The features and supported hardware are similar to boards twice its price. I had problems with a soyo motherboard recognizing ram and two seperate cpus. When I bought this shuttle board I installed a 2600+ throughbred with slight physical damage, and it works fine to my amazement. It also recognizes ram that other boards did not. Installing the cpu, hsf, and ram was very easy and combined with a great manual would be good for a first time DIY buyer. Little things like how the ram snaps in easy and stability really add up on this board. I haven't tried to overclock yet, but the bios has all the options. It was also fairly easy to mount and has plenty of USB ports and room for expansion. Using the same HSF, my cpu temp dropped from 50 C to 38 C idle. Unless you need expensive onboard audio, raid support, sata support, or firewire get this board. If you need one of the above the 5 pci slots allow for easy expansion. 90% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Support for 400MHz FSB and DDR; no mainboard clutter; complete manual; driver CD; overclocking capabilities. Weakness: No SATA or RAID; only three RAM slots, thus only two can be used for Dual Channel DDR (typical of nForce 2 boards); marginal sound chipset. Another well designed mainboard from a quiet yet effective player in the mainboard marketplace. Their boards are rock solid and come without the hype and expense of the big boys on the block. An experienced system builder/integrator will appreciate the simplicity of the layout and probably will have no need to consult the manual. For the newbie (DIY), the detailed manual and driver CD will provide the foundation necessary to step you through the process from mainboard/CPU/RAM and peripherals installation through driver installation. The BIOS contains the complete feature set for the overclocker and should provide the budget gamer an excellent inexpensive rig. The standard settings will suffice for most home and business users and will not disappoint. 86% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: This motherboard comes at a very good price (especially with rebate) for one that supports Athlon XP processors up to 3200+ with 400 MHz front side bus, dual channel DDR, and six channel audio. Weakness: Doesn't provide some of the added features of higher-priced motherboards, such as SATA, RAID, IEEE 1394, Dolby digital audio, or dual LAN; but I personally don't expect to miss those, anyway. The board I received wouldn't correctly recognize my XP 2800+ processor (calling it instead a 2200+) or provide the correct CPU clock multiplier without updating the BIOS. When I first examined the Shuttle website for BIOS updating instructions, I found them to be somewhat misleading, which caused some difficulties with the update. The instructions currently provided on the website are more clear, however. 83% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Veratile-handles just about the whole athlon family up to 3200, 133, 166, 200+ overclocking front side bus, jumperless setup, easy to plug in front panel leds/switches, cpu overheat protection Weakness: Didn't automatically recognize cpu, I had to manually override (in the bios setup) for both 2100+ and 2500+ I bought one several months ago to replace a dead motherboard on a 2100+ system. Has been working fine ever since. Bought 2 more for a pair of 2500+ systems. The only problem was with the second one. It wouldn't boot. Instead, a little red light indicating that the CPU was overheating came on after a few seconds. Since the fan was spinning, and it happened so quick, I thought it must be the board. On further inspection, it turned out that my heatsink had a piece of plastic over the heat compound that I forgot to remove (duh). I removed it, put the heatsink/fan back on, and it booted perfectly. Turns out the overheat protection built into the board may have saved my CPU. Phew! 83% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Rock solid hardware for the money, Loads O' documentation. Weakness: No SATA, bios limitations This board kicks for the money you pay. This was my first build and it went flawlessly thanks to the, more than ample, documentation provided. The only thing that is missing is the ability to vary the cooling fan speeds through the BIOS and SATA. Otherwise, I am recommending this to anyone looking to build an AMD based personal system. 80% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Very stable; easy to overclock. Many settings for voltage, multipliers, etc. Hopefully, you can still get an "unlocked" Barton CPU. Weakness: Not alot of extra features; but great value. No apparent big weaknesses so far. I assembled my system with an Athlon XP2500 Barton and the Shuttle AN35N Ultra motherboard. I was able to easily overclock to 2.255GHz (205MHz x 11) out of the box using winbond BH-5 chipset based memory. Installation was straight forward in my Windows 98SE based system. Very stable with Memtest and SiSandra burn-in. No problems at all. 80% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Fast and very affordable NVIDIA NForce 2 chipset Weakness: No SATA or Firewire This motherboard is probably one of the best values on the market right now. The Nforce chipset is benchmarked higher than the VIA KT600's. The AN35N is a great board without all the frills of the more expensive boards loaded with unnessicary options, like the SATA and Firewire. The bios is loaded with overclocking options, but I havn't tinkered with them yet. Installation was very easy and headache free. 75% of readers found this review helpful. Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: Stable, easy to overclock, good value Weakness: No if you dont need sata, dual NICs onboard, etc this is the board you need to consider. It's very stable, and easy to be overclocked. I've built two systems around this board, each one overclocked a 2500+ to 3200+ speed without hassles. 75% of readers found this review helpful. Shuttle AN35N MotherboardWeakness: Faulty right after 12 months I trusted Shuttle's name when I decided to buy this motherboard. But it turned out to be a big mistake. Right after 12 months, it became problematic. It could only run at 200MHz FSB instead of 266MHz, although the CPU seems perfectly fine on other motherboards. Even at the lower FSB, the PC might still shut down by itself. Since it's passed the warranty period, I wouldn't bother to send it to Shuttle. Compared to all other brand MB's, this is the worst. I've decided not to buy Shuttle products any more unless they're free. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Shuttle AN35N MotherboardStrengths: dudes!!!!!!!! this board is awesome lol....i bought it with stability in mind.... Weakness: mmm....none so far.. so,i buy this blue munsta and put it in...hook up everything and let it burn in for a couple days @200fsb and stock everything....after that, using 8rdavcore directly from windows,i upped the fsb by little, while prime95 and folding@home were munching away..every 6 hours i upped the fsb up to 230 (yes, two hundred thirty lol ) and the voltage as well, everything with baby steps..my kingston value ram cas 3 (lol) crapped on me.so i reboot and set ram at 2.7 volts (max on this board :( and go back in windows..sure enough the bang happened, but like after 10-15 mins of stressing....now that tells me its the ram...remember,u cant change the chipsets voltage,so it beats me how de heck i got it soo high lol Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Shuttle AN35N Motherboard
Strengths: Well-designed motherboard. All your necessary features without the more expensive add-on ones you probably would never use, but wind up paying extra for anyway (like RAID and SATA). Fired right up.
Weakness: Absolutely none.
This is an excellent product for the price. You won't be disappointed even though Shuttle is not a major player in the M/B market and is somwhat of an unknown to many people. The $52 price was quite modest given the board's capabilities and manufactured quality.
It supports a variety of bus and memory speeds and the only thing that will make this board obsolete is that it doesn't support the Athlon 64 line of chips. But who cares; there aren't many 64 bit programs out there to use that technology anyway. This is a great board for the AMD 2800+, 3000+ or 3200+ chips. And to upgrade from 333MHz memory to 400MHz or to the 3200+ chip will only get cheaper as time goes on.
I look for these chips to decrease greatly in price when the dual core chips come out next year pushing the 64 line of chips down a notch, making the chips for this board even cheaper.
The only problem I can see for the DIY computer builder is if Shuttle discontinues making this product. Snap this board up before it disappears!!!!!!
