Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: 800MHz front side bus & Hyperthreading! 3 year warranty, large fan and heat sink included with the retail version

Weakness: price is substantially more than AMD

The Intel 2.6c GHz processor provides a reasonably cost efficient way of building a speed demon of a system. The installion of 1 GB of DDR400 ram with this processor combined with a decent motherboard (Asus P4P800 Deluxe) gives me more speed than I thought possible at the price.

Installation was a cinch and initial boot up was without a flaw. I haven't tried overclocking yet, and may not, since this combination gives me more than adequate speed.

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: This processor is 800 Mhz FSB, which means your MB system clock runs at 200 mhz smoking AMD. The Hyperthreading feature and system bus smokes AMD hands down. You definitely get what you pay for here.

Weakness: Not as cheap as AMD.

This CPU is not as cheap as AMD, but then again, AMD has nothing to offer that even comes close to the power and performance of the 800MHZ FSB P4's. You'd be best to get a decent MB for this, such as the Asus P4P800 Deluxe or better. When combined with SATA, Dual Channel DDR, and a 200mhz supporting MB, this CPU smokes.

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: Very fast processor. Can be overclocked to almost 3GHz. Comes with a fan and a massive heat sink. 3 Year warranty. Excellent quality in construction and workmanship.

Weakness: The gold leads on the cpu chip can be easily bent if the chip is dropped and hit a hard surface accidently.

The cpu bounced out when I snap-opened the plastic package,
and the chip hit the side of the heat sink, resulted in two
bent leads. Had to spent 15 minutes to carefully bend the
leads back to normal. Need to package the chip in a
separate container, or make the whole package easier to open.
Other than that, everything worked perfectly. Highly
recommended. Much cheaper than the 2.8GHz version, and
the price is dropping!

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: Great performance at good price point.

Weakness: none

As many others have stated, this is the processor to get if you want to have an intel system that offers the maximum power for the price. Installation on Albatron 800 Anniversary Ed. board went smoothly and all is performing nicely without a hitch. I'm sure overclocking would not be a problem, but no need to do so at this point, it flies as is.

Installation is a breeze, it runs smooth and relatively quietly, and as usual, Intel compatability is virtually universal in apps. No problems at all and highly recommended.

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: 800Mhz FSB, Hyperthreading, Speed, 3yr Warranty, Great Price

Weakness: None

I've had this processor in my server computer for a little over a month now and its amazingly fast. There is highly noticable difference in the speed and multitasking ability of this processor over former pentium 4 processors. I can perform many different tasks at the same time without bogging down the computer. Best yet, this processor is the same price as the 2.4C. Its definitely the best performance CPU for your money!!

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: Great price compared to next size processor.

Weakness: packaging

I upgraded from a Pentium 3 system and what a difference. With the 800 mhz frontside bus to hyperthreading and DDR ram my new system cooks. With pricing for the 2.4 the same and the 2.8 fifty dollars more it's a no brainer.

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: 800 front side bus, hyperthreading, price

Weakness: none so far

Pricing on this product is great. With the right amount of ram and a good motherboard this thing flys. I build custom computers and recommend this chip for all my customers. I have received no complaints from anyone about performance.

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: Great value for the price; Very Solid and predictable; HT works great;

Weakness: No Major Weaknesses

I'm very happy with this CPU; My mobo (ABit IS7-E) seems to undervolt this CPU a bit, but it still seems to run fine at 2.6GHz; Not quite as sprite as others seem to have found.

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: 800 mhz front side bus. Hyperthreading.

Weakness: none

The 2.6 gig processor is a stellar performer. When coupled with a motherboard chipset that takes advantage of the 800 mhz front side bus speed you will see lightning fast program loading and execution. I see a significant difference in the performance of this chip when compared to a P4 with a 400mhz or 533mhz bus.

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: Best bang for the buck, unmatched design by AMD, Hyper-Threading, 800MHZ FSB

Weakness: Higher cost than Celeron/AMD

As of Nov2003, this CPU sits at the sweet point of the priceXspeed chart. 2.4Mhz is the same price, 2.8Mhz is way higher. Fan and 3yrs included on this non-OEM product.

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: Fairly inexpensive, Overclocks well, 800MHz FSB

Weakness: None

I purchased the 2.6 because it was a great buy for the buck and a good processor. The 2.6C overclocks well and runs flawlessly. HT works well. Great CPU!

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: Excellent quality and speed at an affordable price

Weakness: was a great buy and would highly recomend

Received product quickly and was very easy to install. Great price for a fast processor. Better than average speed and cheaper than the next one up. I would defiantly recomend this product to future buyers.

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: About same price as 2.4C. Great value for the money

Weakness: None

The price is same as 2.4c but a whole lot less than 2.8c or those expensive CPUs. There is no reason to waste money to get 800MHz FSB, Hyper Threading Technology, as well as great performance.

Awesome CPU!

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: good bang for buck

Weakness: none

2.6C is great for overclocking... an it's cheaper than the 2.4C without the premium paid for the higher chips. the 2.6C comes with all the latest advancements too, esp. hyper threading. your WinXP system has never run so fast. Watch your system boot up in no time at all! Running Sandia2004 standard, the hyperthreaded 2.6C beats out the non-HT 3.2-FSB800!
Definitely a good buy and now the price has dropped even lower than the $175 I paid last week!

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: Now priced below the 2.4C! A better OCer for less.

Weakness: None

Was surprised to find this item cheaper than the 2.4C cpu at Newegg. I got the retail version in order to have the 3-yr warranty and HS/F. The fan is not noisy as I expected, although I may get a Zalman for cooler operation. Have it at 3.2Ghz and very stable. 38 C idle on Abit MB. In all, very satisifed.

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: Great price / performance ratio

Weakness: Not as fast, obviously, as the higher end processors

At the time of my writing (11/04/2003), the P4 2.6C processor really is the most bang for the buck in cpu choices when you are thinking intel. With an 800 Mhz front side bus, operations external to the cpu are completed much faster. At 2.6 Ghz, you get over 14 mhz per dollar.. compare that to the 3.0c and you'll see why this is such a smart choice.

This processor, in my opinion, is the best choice for mid range users who don't have fat wallets yet still want performance.

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: fast, 800mhz fsb, good performance to price ratio

Weakness: Can't compare in price to AMD

It's a great mid-upper range processor for the price, especially if you don't want to pay an arm and a leg for the next processor up

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: Runs cool, It's Fast enough "BUT!"

Weakness: NOT THE BEST VALUE

Spend the extra 100 and just get the 3.4 Northwood. I had a 2.26 and it overclocked very well and ran cool. I'm sure if I had faster ram the 2.6 would overclock better but it just isn't that spectacular. It's a solid performer at stock and dose well with moderate overclocking. I wish i had spent the extra bucks and got the 2.8 or the 3.0!

*Bottom line: If your a broke college kid like me and It's all you can afford your going to be happy with it. The hyperthreding is great as well :)

*if you overclock get the 2.26 (It seems to be making a come back) Many seem pleased and I miss mine :(

Idle temps: about 34C
Doom 3 temps: about 46C
(stock heat sink and fan)

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: Very fast, Good price compared to other p4's when I bought it.

Weakness: Still expensive compared to AMD chips.

I was really surprised that this chip was cheaper than the 2.4C p4. Everyone I asked couldn't come up with a reason why, other than the 2.4 had been highly recommended by lots of places and so the price went up. So I snatched this at $178 at the time. Haven't over clocked it yet. Don't really see a need to, as it seems fast enough as it is right now. My Matlab calculations speed right along, still take about 20 seconds for a specific test run, but this is a lot faster than the 80 seconds it takes at school on p3 800 mhz machines.

The reason I chose this chip over an AMD was because of a motherboard I liked.

Overall: Good performance, wasn't too expensive, felt like I was getting a good deal due to slower p4's for a more expensive price.

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6 GHz Processor

Strengths: Great price for the performance. Easy installation.

Weakness: None.

This CPU is for the first computer I've built and I think I made a great choice in selecting this processor. It's price is great compared to the higher speed processors. I'm using it with an ABIT IC7-G motherboard and 512 MB RAM.
