A Good case to Avoid

Strengths: cheap, screwless side panels

Weakness: Very Flimsy construction, front panel wires are too short to reach some of the motherboard plugs, dimensions are larger then specified, unused drive covers come undone with just a light touch.

I was really amazed at how cheaply this case was made. The front panel comes off with just a light pull, and it should'nt come off at all. I'm totally disgusted with this case, and may, despite the considerable trouble, just buy a new one.

Quite a struggle

Strengths: Looks great and is very light.

Weakness: Very poor quality control.

Well, I've built many systems in my years, and like to try a new case with each one. This was my first Enermax case and since I'm a loyal fan of their powersupplies, this dissapointed me. I am normally able to build a PC and install windows in ~2 hours, this took me about 4.

In short, here's what happened:

CD drive would NOT fit flush where it should have. There was a quarter inch of metal blocking the area they punch out of the front of the chassis, where the drive slips through. A small bit I can understand, but not a quarter inch. I had to bend it back with pliers and it then scratched my CD drive. Hopefully this was a fluke and not in every single case.

The hard drive bays are so far from the CD bays there's no way you could run a HD and CD on a single IDE channel. I had to remove my floppy and put the HD there. Yes, I know, I should be using the new leet SATA cables but I was building a cheap box for my dad and had only certain parts. Plus the Motherboard only had 1 IDE chan. I know this is getting dated, but I don't think it should prevent me from using a case quite yet =)

The system they designed to lock drives in place is quite finicky and only worked with the CD drive. I had to unscrew the knobs and just mount the HD the old fashioned way.

The case comes with a 400W powersupply, but it's not even an Enermax! I supposed I should have seen this coming, but hey.

I do love how it looks, and the screwless case door system is awesome. Hopefully my case was just a bad one.
