The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

A nice, fantasy story with a implied biblical teaching. Special effects acceptably good. C.S. Louis's greatest children story.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

There's nothing like watching a horde of animals charging like some organized army against another massive grouping of other animals armed to the teeth/fang or whatever they have in their mouths/bills, etc. There is action, fantasy, imagination, and actually a story. This is a well-rounded tale, that appeals to the young, as well as the young at heart. Fantasy is a very broad genre, where it can involve anything you can imagine. This is a nice story-telling story that can surely entertain the bored. If its anything like its print-predecessor, it has room for sequels for sure.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

I didn't think much of this film at all.  It was horribly over-rated and I too have read the books so was disappointed with the end result.  This movie lacked soul, it was just about the special effects and even that wasn't impressive enough to save this movie.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

Beautiful artwork, scenery and costumes.  But that's about it.  Wasn't ever really into this type of fantasy.  I'm a JRR Tolkien fan - as well as a JK Rowling Fan.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

I had to watch this crap on an aeroplane. Its just a flipping rip-off of Lord Of The Rings if Frodo went to a Zoo.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

Windy and overblown, but still a step up from the dreadful Potter movies, or the horrific English version of this done several years ago.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

I loved the book when I was younger but I pictured several things differently than they were shown in the movie. That usually goes for the people that are fans of books first.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

Beautifully presented if slightly dry story telling. Did we ever feel like the children were in any real danger and that they wouldn't learn to be better people from their experience? Limony Snicket is much more engaging.

Great Picture

Strengths: Special effects were outstanding

Weakness: Could be a little long for very young

This is a great way to present C. S. Lewis outstanding writings. I think anyone would enjoy this film because the content highly expectable for any age or background. This is a fast pace movie that doesn’t linger at any point, and will keep you interested. The young actors do a terrific job presenting their rolls

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

Personally, I didn't like the book. I think the movie is very overrated. It's not horrible or anything, but it's not as great as people all make it out to be.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

a wonderful allegory to the story of Christianity. the parallels were unbelievable. watching Aslon climb the mountain bore a striking resemblace to Jesus in the garden. even if you're not looking for ties to Christianity, it was still a great film that I would recommend to anyone, and the battle scenes were non-gory enough for the whole family.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

I thought the movie had that edgey feel of actually being there. The movie was very close to the book and it was an amazing theme. The acting could use a touch up but other than that it was a wonderful movie that I hope to show my children if I have any. The graphics were also very amazing.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

I thought the movie was pretty good. The sets, makeup and wardrobe were amazing and the acting was okay. I would recommend it to anyone, even if you never read the book. I wish they would make movies of the other books though instead of just making this one over and over again...

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

I liked it. The movie brought back fond memories of being absolutely enthralled with the book when I was a kid, and it seemed to stay pretty true to the original story. I thought the dynamics between the kids worked pretty well - Peter was the clear leader, and did a good job in the older brother role. As actors, they weren't too bad either. Narnia itself was fantastic, and it was hard to tell where the special effects ended and real animals began. Aslan's voice just didn't work for me - I found it to be too prissy or something - but other than that, if you liked the book, you should definitely shell out to see this movie at the theater.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

Passable film, expecially for the kids. Too much CGI and Would be nice to have found out why the wardrobe was there in the first place, and since I read the book over 40 years ago I have forgotten why. etc. Great fantasy for kids and the snow scenes were wonderful, as was the fawn. My motehr was born in near Paddington Station and clearly remebers being evacuated from here...the film did immense justice to those scenes. I know this is a fantasy describing the validiction of good over evil, especially for the four kids bruised by the war, (the youngest girl was an excellent actress) but even with the film, I couldn't really see the point of it all. Not something I'd sit through again.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

Saw this today! It was great. Entertaining, warm and a pleasure to not be distracted from the film by better known child actors...a wonderful movie. Kamy: Found this re: cat with spectacles on a blog: "Maybe it was the crayoned marking that Edmund did when he went into the witch's house earlier on. Did anyone notice that he was painting a mustache onto one of the stone statues? It looked like he had grabbed black charcoal, but it could have been another color. I wasn't sure if it was a cat, but I will make sure I pay close attention when I go back to see the movie, on both points, because I didn't see what you're referring to."

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

Definitely worth seeing. Finally, a "Family" flick that doesn't put me to sleep. Like LOTR, it took a long time before film technology could do justice to it. It's a very imaginative story tht allows people to choose how much symbolism is involved. Supposedly, author C. S. Lewis based the hero (a lion) on a certain figure prominently featured in the New Testament. The acting was decent. I loved Tilda Swinton in "The Deep End." She plays a very BEYOTCHEE Witch with perpetual Bad Hair Days, which seems to put her in a murderous rage all the time. She does a decent job with her swordplay -- even with her skinny little arms. As I always say, the mark of a great actress is her ability to wield swords or to launch kicks. Take Julia Roberts or Jennifer Aniston, overated damsels; the only thing tough they can do is pout while smoking a cigarette.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

I didn't like it. The acting was average to weak, a bit too much CGI help (which many are relying on way too much lately) and a predictable story (yes, I know it was based on a book). I read the book about twenty years ago and had forgotten everything, but was just not impressed by this film. I certainly would not go to a sequel.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

I'd give it a B minus or a C plus . I thought Swinton was a pretty credible Witch, though she was miscast. The role calls for a beautiful, pale, dark haired woman. It stayed quite close to the books, but I didn't think the effects were that great by current standards. The kids were pretty good in it, and the scenery, while not LOTR quality, was quite nice. Worth seeing, but not one I'd see in the theater a second time.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

There is no doubt that this will be a classic. "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" is a solid representation of C.S. Lewis's world; there are few tweaks in the storyline (the beginning of the story, mostly, but the more realistic approach is appreciated in the real world portion of the movie), but it is mostly quite faithful to the novel. SYNOPSIS: . . . I wont get into it, you probably have already read it. PROS: Only with this level of computer technology could we get such a rich and fluid world that does the imagination justice (and for those critics who are sticking their nose up in the air and saying that "well, my imagination was far better", I'd wager to say that if we put your glorious imagined version on screen, most people would highly disagree; in short, "stow it"). As mentioned before, there was little done to stray from the novel (there are three or four notable exceptions, but they do not detract from the movie). The children did an admirable job portraying Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. Georgie Henley (Lucy) was particularly impressive, and I think shed give Dakota Fanning a run for her money. The non-human characters were well rendered. The great battle, though somewhat brief, was great. The soundtrack was beautiful. The two hour and twelve minute running time passes as quickly as does the time in the real world compared to that in Narnia. CONS: They could have certainly done more with Aslan; it was easy for me to forgive, though, since most people would be bringing their children to see this, and kids in the theater had a difficult time sitting through two hours as it was. I hope that, once released on DVD, it might involve Aslan more. Only once did I feel that the CG failed. And Im still trying to figure out why that cat in the end (during the coronation scene) had a mustache and eyeglasses clearly drawn on him, like some prankster went in with the Microsoft Paint program and hand-drawn eyeglasses and the mustache. Maybe it was some bizarre inside joke, but it totally distracted me from the movie. OVERALL: Definitely worth seeing, definitely worth buying on DVD.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and...

Quite a bit overrated. My kids enjoyed it, but I thought some of the acting was quite hammy (the witch was so stiff the whole movie). Of the kids I thought the girl who played lucy was the best. Aslan just didn't seem wise enough... I mean, he's supposed to be God in the books, and he just seems like this big talking lion.
